Minolta Autocord. Fuji Pro 400H developed by Filmdev. April 2019
This image was taken on the bank holiday weekend in April 2019, when the weather was unusually sunny. I had been photographing the Extinction Rebellion protesters in nearby Parliament Square and spotted this red phone box. I’ve seen hundreds of phone boxes over the years, but this one stood out because of it’s uncluttered and spacious surroundings of grey stone, which made the phone box stand out. I waited for some time for a break in the passing crowds, and just as I was ready to shoot, this young boy jumped into the phone box to pose for his mother. Initially was frustrated and was going to wait for him to leave, until I spotted his bright blue hat and his pose, which I thought gave the image a more human feel.
